Amazon Jungle Trips ::: Forestours

AJT – 4 days, 3 nights Zacambu Rainforest Lodge USD $431 per person

Day 1

A two-hour trip on the Amazon and Javari Rivers, surrounded by gorgeous scenery, will take us to the Zacambu Rainforest Lodge. There, our staff will welcome you with a refreshing drink and get you settled in your room. The afternoon will include an outing—on foot or by canoe, depending on the season—to identify rubber trees and see a demonstration of rubber extraction. There will also be a talk on the local history of rubber tapping, which goes back more than 100 years. We will then continue by boat to the confluence of the rivers to spot the friendly gray and pink dolphins.

Day 2

We will welcome the sunrise with a silent canoe tour, paddling around Lake Joao Para and enjoying the jungle as it awakes. After breakfast, the adventure will continue with an outing—on foot or by motorized canoe, depending on the season—to Maraja Lake. This encounter with nature will include sights of our beloved aquatic plant Victoria Regia and the walking trees native to this habitat. We will then return to the lodge. The evening will be full of adventure among the nearby rivers and lakes, spotting caimans of various sizes in their natural habitat.

Day 3

The morning will be spent fishing on Piranha Lake, catching various species including the red piranha, which is considered to be the most ferocious. The afternoon begins with a boat tour exploring the lush landscape of the surrounding lakes and rivers and spotting endemic fauna. In the evening, we will have a fascinating and exotic adventure walking through the darkness, gaining a unique sense of admiration for the powerful nighttime habitat.

Day 4

The morning begins with an outing by boat for a day full of survival-like adventure. You will experience the daily life of the local inhabitants, fishing, collecting fruit, and preparing food while accompanied by local guides. Striking out on a forest trail, we will explore the lower jungle, observing the vegetation and animal species native to this habitat. Upon arrival at the river bank, a boat will be waiting for us to take us back to the lodge. We will then return to Leticia.
