Amazon Jungle Trips ::: Forestours

AJT – 3 days, 2 nights Zacambu Rainforest Lodge USD $323 per person

Day 1

We will travel south on the majestic Amazon and then up the Javari River; the whole trip is approximately 75 km (47 miles). Upon arrival at the Zacambu Rainforest Lodge, you will get accommodated in your room, and will have time to relax while sipping a local juice, followed by lunch. We will then boat back out to the confluence of the two rivers to spot the gray and pink dolphins that congregate there. These friendly dolphins will show off their skills against the beautiful backdrop of evening and nightfall.

Day 2

Day two begins with an outing in small boats to the bank of the Javari River. From thence, we will strike out—on foot or by canoe, depending on the season—to find the exotic Victoria Regia lily pad which grows naturally on Maraja Lake. An exciting afternoon will be spent fishing for various species of piranha, including the most ferocious kind. We will then return to the lodge. In the evening, we will again head out in motorized canoes through nearby lakes and rivers, experiencing the mysterious darkness of the jungle and spotting caimans in their habitat.

Day 3

We will take a walk deep into the jungle with a local guide, identifying animals and aquatic plant species and familiarizing ourselves with the natural pharmacology of ancestral Amazonian cultures. We will then return to the lodge, with time to relax and prepare for our return to Leticia.
